Changelog
What changed in each version of palmtop. Your version: palmtop --version; update with palmtop update. The app on your devices
updates by itself.

0.24.0
Tell your agent you finished reviewing with one tap, and it picks your review up by itself.
- Review done: a button at the bottom of a session tells your agent you finished reviewing. It asks first, says how many checks are still not reviewed, and turns into “Marked as done” until your agent writes something new in the session.
- No message in the chat: Claude Code waits for your tap with the new
palmtop waitand reads your review by itself. It waits only when there is something to wait for. This works only with Claude Code for now: other agents (Codex included) are not supported, tell them in the chat, as before. - Reading your review spends the tap: the button comes back, so you can tap again if you have more to
check. There is one wait for each session, a wait nobody taps for ends after a day, and
palmtop statusshows which sessions are waited in. - The button is lit only while an agent is waiting for it, so a tap never goes nowhere; when none waits it says to tell the agent in the chat.
- Shared checklists: a person can tap Review done on their copy. You get a notification and the app shows it next to their name; your agent is not told, it reads their answers as always.
palmtop sessionsandpalmtop session listmark a session you tapped as[done].- Update with
palmtop updateon every computer: Review done needs palmtop 0.24 on the computer. Existing pairings keep working.

Links you can open, a note made of elements, and screenshots on notes.
- Links: an address in a message from the agent, in a check, in a note or in what somebody
wrote to you opens in a new tab:
https://example.com/pageor justexample.com. Names of code files such asREADME.mdormain.pyare not taken for addresses. - The note for the agent is a list: add, edit and delete its elements one by one instead of
rewriting one text. The agent still reads one note, and now sees which elements are new
(
[new]) and which you edited ([edit]) since it last read it. - Screenshots: attach one to the note of a check or to an element of the note for the agent, from the gallery, the camera or by pasting. It is shrunk on your device (the location of a photo is dropped), sent to your computer and shown as a picture under the note: tap it to open it. Your agent gets the file, and with the palmtop tools the picture itself.
- Offline: a screenshot taken while the computer is off waits on your device and is sent, before the note that names it, once the computer is back.
- Shared checklists: the people you share with can attach screenshots too, within a smaller space. You see them under their answer, and your agent receives them with what they wrote.
- Your agent’s message can now be a few lines with numbered steps, for what you have to do and in which order.
- Update with
palmtop updateon every computer: screenshots need palmtop 0.23 on the computer. An older one still works, but your agent then reads the note with the names of its elements and without marks. Existing pairings keep working.
- Links: an address in a message from the agent, in a check, in a note or in what somebody
wrote to you opens in a new tab:

palmtop on Windows, in PowerShell, without WSL.
- Windows without WSL: install in PowerShell with
irm https://palmtop.mtwa.it/install.ps1 | iex. It needs Windows PowerShell 5.1 or newer and Node.js 22: no Git, no administrator rights, and it checks the download before it installs. The daemon, the command line, pairing, sharing and the tools for your agent work the same as on macOS and Linux. palmtop setupcreatespalmtop.cmdand, when you say yes, puts its folder first in your userPath. The old value is saved in a file first; without a terminal, it prints the one line to run by hand.palmtop stopstops the daemon cleanly on every system: it asks the daemon, instead of sending a signal that Windows doesn’t have. A daemon from an older version is still stopped.- Your data stays yours on Windows: the folder
%USERPROFILE%\.palmtopaiis limited to your Windows user and the system. - A project is the same project whatever the case and the slashes of its path, as Windows treats them.
- Messages that tell you a port is taken or reserved by Windows say what to change
(
localPortinconfig.json). - The home page shows the install command for the system you are on. WSL still works: use the macOS and Linux command inside it.
Run

0.21.1
Small fixes to pairing, syncing and the command line.
- A device that never saw the confirmation of a change and sends it again is now told it is already there, instead of getting an error.
- When your phone switches back to a project it asked for just before, it asks for it again instead of staying empty.
- A failed write of the list of paired devices no longer blocks the ones after it, and the computer goes back to what is saved on disk.
- Commands that take
--sessionfind the session in any project of the computer when you run them outside a project folder, andpalmtop share closechecks the session before asking you to confirm.
Run
palmtop update. -

Your agent uses palmtop through tools, with the text exactly as written.
- Tools for your agent: Claude Code and Codex now get palmtop as an MCP server (
palmtop mcp). The agent starts a session, writes checklists, asks questions and reads your review with tools instead of typing commands. What it writes arrives as it is, with quotes,&,$or accents, on any system. - The tools keep the session of the conversation: the agent doesn’t have to carry a session ref
around, and finds it again with
session_listif it ever loses track. - Pairing, inviting, deleting and stopping to share stay commands that only you run: the agent has no tool for them.
palmtop setupandpalmtop updateset it all up: the tools, their permissions and the new guide. Restart Claude Code, or start a new Codex session, after updating.palmtop guideis written for the tools, and ends with the matching commands for agents that have none.

Archive sessions and projects you are done with.
- Archive: put a session away from the ⋯ menu of the project, or a whole project from the ⋯ next to it on the Dashboard. It leaves the Dashboard and its counts, on every device paired with that computer, and comes back by itself when your agent writes to it again.
- The archive next to the bell lists what you archived, by computer and project: open a session as it is, or restore it.
palmtop session listandpalmtop sessionsmark archived sessions[archived].- Update with
palmtop update: archiving needs palmtop 0.20 on the computer. Existing pairings keep working.

A device that loses its key says so, and the app holds on to its connection.
- “Key lost” instead of “Not paired”: when the browser deletes the data of the app (usually because the device is low on space), the key of the device goes with it. The app now tells you, on the Dashboard and in the project, and says what to do: remove the computer from this device and pair again. Your projects stay on the computer.
- A notice about the storage of the app: after the browser deleted its data, and once when the browser has not promised to keep it, with how to make that less likely. Dismiss it and it comes back only after a new deletion.
- A device key is used only once it is saved: if the browser can’t save it, the app asks you to open it again instead of pairing with a key that would be gone at the next start.
- Fewer disconnections: a connection broken on a bad network is tried again, instead of showing “Not paired”.
- Notifications turn themselves back on when the browser dropped them, as long as they are still allowed for the site.
- New version available: a yellow dot on the ⋯ of the Dashboard when the app has a new version, and a tap loads it, also in the app on the Home Screen, which doesn’t reload by itself.
- The version of the app at the foot of the Dashboard.
- The log of palmtop on the computer (
~/.palmtopai/daemon.log) names the device it refuses. - Update with
palmtop update. Existing pairings keep working.

Share a checklist with a client, a colleague or a friend.
- Share a checklist with other people. Give someone a copy of a checklist of checks to verify on their own device: they see only that, never your computer or your other projects. You see what each of them answered under every item, with their notes, and your agent puts the answers together. See Sharing with other people.
palmtop invite --name Marioshows a link and a QR code that open once, within 24 hours, with no account and nothing to install. Only you can run it, in a terminal. You get a notification when they join.palmtop share, retest, people: give a copy, bring it up to date withretestwhen you want (an item whose text changed asks for a new review; reviews of unchanged items stay), see who has what, take a single checklist out of a copy (share remove) or stop sharing (share close).palmtop message --towrites to one person only, andpalmtop session owner-namesets how they see your name.- In the app, a chip with the name of each person under every item, and Hide results to hide them. What somebody shares with you opens from their link, under their name, with the same notes and offline copy; when their date passes it turns read-only.
- Your agent learned to share, to compare the answers when people disagree and to bring a copy up to date after a fix, and never to invite anyone.
- Update with
palmtop update. Existing pairings keep working.

0.18.0
End-to-end encryption, and the app on its own address.
- End-to-end encrypted: everything between your computer and your devices is encrypted, and only they can read your checklists. The relay forwards data it can’t read and stores nothing. See Security and privacy.
- A key for each device, made in the browser and impossible to copy out of it. The token every device used to share is gone.
palmtop deviceslists the devices paired with a computer;palmtop devices removerevokes one, which is disconnected at once. Unpair this computer… in the app revokes the device on the computer too.- Pairing with a code shows the same 6-digit number in the terminal and on the device: confirm it on both, and nothing pairs if it differs.
- The app moves to app.palmtop.mtwa.it, an address of its own.
Old links to
/app/take you there. - Pair each device again, once: run
palmtop updateon each computer, thenpalmtop pair. Pairings made before 0.18 don’t work any more. Your projects and checklists stay on the computer. On a phone, add the app to the Home Screen again from the new address, and turn notifications on again. - The app needs Safari 17, Chrome 137, Firefox 130 or newer.
- In 0.18.1, clearer instructions for agents: reviews read as
works, fails, questionornot reviewed; the agent offers palmtop when it is about to give you things to test by hand, and once you used it in a conversation it keeps putting the checks of later work there; after a fix it edits the item, so it comes back to review on your devices; and it never unpairs your devices (palmtop devices remove) unless you ask. - In the app, with Hide reviewed on, lists with nothing left to review and questions you answered move below the others, so what is left to do stays at the top.
-
0.17.0
palmtop moves to palmtop.mtwa.it.
- New address: the site, the app and the relay live at palmtop.mtwa.it. Installing and updating use it from now on.
- The address used before keeps answering the same way, so nothing breaks: computers installed
earlier go on working until you run
palmtop update, and a device paired there stays paired. - Your devices belong to the address they were paired on: to move one to the new one, open app.palmtop.mtwa.it and pair it again from there.
- Fixed in 0.17.1: a question counted as many things to review as it had options. It counts as one, and stops counting as soon as you answer it — on the Dashboard, in the session and in what the agent reads.
-
0.16.0
Questions from your agent: it sends the options, you choose on your devices.
- Questions: when the agent is stuck between real alternatives it sends them to your devices instead of a checklist. The options come one card at a time, each with a couple of lines on what it means: answer Pick, No or Ask, with a note if useful. See Answering a question.
- Your own answer: the last card is yours. Write what you would do instead and the agent takes it as the decision.
- Once answered, a question closes into a row with the option you chose. Tap the row to open it again and change your answer.
- Notifications tell a question from a checklist, with its title only, as always.
- Fixed in 0.16.1: a question written while a device still had the previous version of the app was shown there as a plain checklist, and stayed that way. Devices now ask their computer for a fresh copy after an update that adds fields.
- For agents:
palmtop choice create, with an--option(and an optional--detail) per alternative, plus--multiplewhen more than one can be chosen. See CLI.

0.15.1
The agent guide says "didn't try it" instead of "not tested".
- The agent guide and the docs speak of trying a check, not testing it: a ✕ with the note “didn’t try it” counts as not reviewed, and a check with no mark is “not tried yet”.
-

Pair the app on the Home Screen with a code, and an invitation to install it.
- Pairing with a code: the app added to the Home Screen shows a code of six letters and digits.
Run
palmtop pair CODEon your computer, confirm, then tap Pair on the device. On iPhone the app on the Home Screen doesn’t share Safari’s storage, so a pairing made in the browser was not there. See On the Home Screen. - Install app: on phones and tablets the app invites you to add it to the Home Screen, with the steps for iPhone and Android. Also in the menu of the Dashboard.

Notifications also reach a locked phone.
- Notifications with the screen locked: they are sent as urgent, so Android and iOS deliver them right away also when the phone is idle, and the push service keeps them for up to 4 days while the device is off.
- A phone locked with the app open no longer counts as looking at the project: after 30 seconds without news from it, the computer notifies it again.
- A new app: a Dashboard with one card per computer, its projects and what is left to review,
and a “Working now” strip that opens the project where the agent is working. Inside a computer,
project › sessionopens a sheet to move between them. Built on shadcn/ui, with the same look.

0.11.0
Start the daemon in the background by hand.
palmtop serve -b(or--background) starts the daemon in the background and returns, the same way it starts when your agent opens a session. Useful when your devices say the computer is offline, for example after a restart.
-
0.10.0
One pairing per computer, and a new address.
- Pair once per computer. A paired device now sees every project of that computer, including
the ones your agent starts later: no more scanning a QR code for each project.
palmtop pairworks from any folder and no longer creates a project. - The selector under the title lists the projects of your computers, most recent first, with how many checks are still to review. Follow activity now keeps the device on the project and the session your agent is working in.
- Delete this project… in the ⋯ menu deletes a project from any device: sessions, checklists and reviews go on the computer too, your files are never touched.
- One notification switch per device, valid for every project of every computer you paired.
- palmtop moved to palmtop.miltonwebagency.it. The old address keeps working for a few days, only to let installed versions update themselves.
After updating you have to pair your devices again, and the checklists on your computer are reset: this version changes how pairing works and does not carry the old data over. Run
palmtop update, thenpalmtop pairand scan the QR code with each device. - Pair once per computer. A paired device now sees every project of that computer, including
the ones your agent starts later: no more scanning a QR code for each project.

0.8.0
A QR code in the terminal, and pairing links that work once.
palmtop pairshows the QR code in the terminal as well as in the browser page, so you can pair even when no browser opens (in WSL, or in a remote shell).- A pairing link or QR code works once and expires: it no longer carries the key of your checklists, only a single-use key that expires after a few minutes, so what stays on a screen, in a screenshot or in the history of a terminal can’t be used again.
- From WSL,
palmtop pairopens the page in your Windows browser (0.7.3).
Run
palmtop update. Devices already paired keep working. -
0.7.2
The missing checklist for AI coding.
- The agent guide and the Claude Code skill now only use checklists of things to verify or test. Plan checklists, to approve work before the agent starts, are gone.
- Marks have one meaning: ✓ it works, ✕ it doesn’t work, ? you need more information. The agent follows your note: a change to make, a feature to remove, a partial problem to fix. A question never changes code unless you ask. An unmarked check is not tested yet.
- palmtop is for every device, not just your phone: phone, tablet or a browser on your computer.
- New website with documentation and this changelog.
Run
palmtop update: it also updates the Claude Code skill. -

Notifications on your devices.
- Turn on notifications from the ⋯ menu of a project: your devices are notified when the agent creates a checklist, adds checks or sets a message.
- Notifications show only the computer, the project and a title, never the text of your checks.
- No notification while the app is open on screen. On iPhone and iPad, from the app added to the Home Screen.
